Lost head nails in brass and copper-plated steel for shoemaking
Lost head nails for shoemaking
Our lost head nails are used in shoemaking for the mounting and fixing of heels.
The mounting nail is defined as a metal wire with a constant diameter termined by a non-angular protrusion: "the head".
The lost head nail is appreciated by mounters for its elongated shape, which facilitates bending the nail on the shank during assembly using the hammer's peen; also, thanks to its small diameter, during removal, the wooden forms and shank undergo no damage, and its rounded head reduces the risk of scratching the leather (FFCM, 2023).
How to choose the right lost head?
- Choose the metal and the finish of the nail: copper-coated steel | brass
- Choose the length of the nail from those proposed for each metal, between 14 and 35 mm
Those nails are sold in boxes of 1kg.
Usage tips
To prevent the nails from protruding through the shoes, the head of each nail must be cut using pliers before the nail is permanently driven into the heel.Lost head nail
